This workshop takes students on a voyage of discovery through the mysteries of Olympia, immersing them in the universe of the ancient Olympic Games and their legacy.
Students will explore historical reconstruction methods, from excavations to experimental archaeology. In order to understand how sport disciplines have evolved over time, they will compare the equipment used by the very first athletes with those used today and reproduce the sporting scenes immortalised on antique vases. They will be able to take part in fun and interactive activities to teach them about how the competitions of the past have inspired the Games as we know them today.

Explore the inspiring world of the Olympic Games with a self-guided tour of the permanent and temporary exhibitions. Students will be able to delve into the fascinating history of the Olympic Movement, sporting achievements and values that transcend borders.
The museum offers a range of materials to accompany your class visit.Recommended duration visit: 1,5 - 2 hours.

In this workshop, pupils will learn all about the various aspects of Olympic medals.
Through artefacts, images, questions and activities, they will discover how these fascinating objects are made. They will also discuss the medals’ symbolic value, the materials used to produce them and their iconography – including which winged figure appears on the Olympic Summer Games medals, and why this is different for the Winter Games.
